Self-Transforming Machine Elves
Includes Machine Elves, the Tykes, and Clockwork Elves
First described by Terance McKenna, the ethnobotanist, these Beings are the most well-known of DMT entities. Similar to the Elves of Celtic folklore, these entities have a strange sense of humor. Extremely playful, the Tykes like to sparkle with their bodies. Meanwhile, Self-Transforming Machine Elves will usually emerge from the geometric patterns formed by DMT. These entities seem to be teaching people about their DMT world.

Mantis Entities
Includes Mantids and Insectoid Aliens
People report their encounters with these Beings to be intense, challenging and overwhelming. These entities seem to be cold-hearted scientists experimenting on humans. Mantids are also reported in UFO abductions, usually operating on people’s brains. They are believed to be the future descendants of Earth’s insects, coming to this time from the far future.

Reptilians
Includes Reptoids and Lizard People
These entities also appear in UFO contact writings. David Icke, the British writer, claims that they (i.e. Reptilian Aliens) control Earth’s political systems. These entities do seem to be involved in human affairs. Since many people report them to be to be frightening, caution is advised when encountering Reptilians.

Greys
Greys are the classic UFO beings who are reported in abductions. It is believed that they are interdimensional Beings living in a symbiosis with humans. In their encounters, people have reported them to be robotic in their movements. Meanwhile, others have considered their abductions by the Greys similar to fairy kidnappings.

Blue and Purple-Hued Beings
People who encounter Blue and Purple-Hued Beings report a feeling of love, peace, and understanding coming from Them. These humanoids seem to be a part of people’s spiritual journeys. (People using cannabis also experience these Beings welcoming them.) Various DMT users have met Blue and Purple-Hued Beings ranging from Lord Krishna to Barney the Dinosaur, who then became their guides.

Clowns and Jesters
Includes Tricksters, Harlequins, Imps, and Jack-in-the Box
Terence McKenna said that these represented the archetype of the DMT which is the circus. These entities are a part of that milieu. Meanwhile, Joe Rogan, the Podcaster, reported being flipped off by a Jester. Since they are tricksters, caution is advised when encountering these Beings.

Threshold Guardians
Includes Gatekeepers
Also known as “Dwellers on the Threshold,” these entities were first descried by Manly P. Hall in his occult writings. They will challenge anyone who approaches the Threshold. Before moving on to a higher dimension of reality, a person has to pass a rite of passage given to them by the Gatekeeper.

Spirit Guides
These Beings will appear as often on psychedelic journeys as they do on New Age “shamanic journeys.” Protective of their charges, Spirit Guides will guide people through the process of enlightenment. Users tell of how they are benevolent teachers, who help people to navigate the realms of hyperspace.

Modern Guide to Meditation Beads
Shannon Yrizarry, Llewellyn, 2020

Since prayer beads are important in my religious practice, I decided to read Shannon Yrizarry’s “Modern Guide to Meditation Beads.” Yrizarry writes that meditation beads “are great for both the deep spiritual seeker and some needing a tool to help them with more simple day-to-day things.” (She refers to “prayer beads” as “meditation beads” since they are a “cross-cultural tool that can be used for secular uses.”) In her guide, Yrizarry presents topics such as the use of meditation beads, their history, and how to compose mantras.

In her small book, Yrizaary wants to be complete as possible, since she is introducing people to their use. Yrizarry writes that “using meditation beads is a life-transforming tool.” Use the beads “if you are feeling like you want to make a change in your life but don’t have clarity on what needs to change.” She explains that this works by subconsciously reprogramming the mind to what is helpful. Moreover, fingering the beads can provide a sense of calm, as well as, remind a person of their stated intentions.

Because of my brain injury, I often commission beads for my personal use. I found the discussions of how meditation beads are constructed and what to include to be helpful. The book has suggestions on what would be appropriate for what purpose. For example, a person could can match the beads to the Signs of the Zodiac, and then set-up intentions based on their attributes. For me, Yrizarry’s suggestions sparks my creative thinking for designing new sets.

As a part of using meditation beads, Yrizarry explains how to construct mantras and intentions. Mantras work to direct the person’s energy through applied attention. Moreover, the time spent setting up the intention directs the mind as well to the desired thoughts.

To have an effective mantra, Yrizarry suggests the following steps. First, determine what are the goals. Then clarify which one is the most important. Refine that intention to be clear as possible. An excellent intention should state what is wanted and reenforce why. An example would be “I am calm so I can feel peaceful.” When using the beads, remember to include “thank you” when repeating the intentions.

As for me, I use the “meditation beads” for my prayers. For example, I have a set is for Nanna-Suen, the Babylonian God of the Moon. This set consists of 108 beads of aquamarine and dark green aventurine, beads in a pattern for the cycles of the moon. As I say my prayers. I am focused on Nanna-Suen. Since I pray before retiring to bed, this invites the God into my dreams.

Since I discovered that Brownies are Spirits of the Home, I decided to mediate on how to meet one. At first, I tried the usual forms of meditation. However outside of being refreshed, I could not envision to how contact any. Therefore, I decide to mull over what to do next.

As strange as it may seem, I felt a presence while I was vacuuming the living room rug. Not sure of what I was experiencing, I continued with my cleaning chores. As I was wiping out my kitchen sink, I heard a deep voice coming from behind me. “Do not forget to shine the faucets while you are at it.” Startled, I dropped my dishtowel. Whoever the voice belonged to was not of this earth.

While wiping down my stove, I glanced out the corner of one eye. Careful not to look directly, I saw a squat brown figure in brown rags. As I kept my focus on scouring the stove burners, I pondered what I saw. I believe that I encountered a Brownie in my home. (Being part Scottish, I was not surprised about having one in my home.)

I continued cleaning as if there was nothing out of the ordinary happening in my kitchen. I stuck my head into the microwave oven to wipe down the inside. The deep voice then said “I prefer listening to Frank Sinatra.” Upon hearing that, I nearly banged my head on the roof of the microwave. This whole exchange was entirely unexpected. I did have enough presence of mind, not to speak to the Brownie, who was standing in the middle of my galley kitchen. I also did not turn my head to look directly at him.

When I do my chores, I often enter a trance. The chores have a rhythm and focus to them that invites meditation. Since I have a set routine, I often do housework on “automatic pilot.” I remembered that Brownies expect tidiness and cleanliness. Therefore contacting one while doing the vacuuming then did seem natural.

Later, I reviewed what I had learned about Brownies. They have rules that the people living the house need to follow. Usually, a meeting of the minds between both parties has to happen. I could agree to keeping a neat home since they dislike messes. Another thing that I could do was to make food offerings in odd places.

Later I left some bread heels near the furnace closet. When I went to wash the floor, the food was gone. Then I put some cereal by the stove. That disappeared as well.

As for the Brownie’s preference for Frank Sinatra, I was flummoxed. There was nothing in the lore about what music Brownies liked. Somehow, I expected that Celtic music was what they preferred. A Brownie asking for the songs of Frank Sinatra was the farthest from my mind.

Since Sinatra was what the Brownie asked for, Sinatra, it would be. I did not want a Good Brownie go bad, and turn into a Boggart. Since I did not know which of Sinatra’s songs, the Brownie liked, I would play a variety of them.

Some nights later, when I was dozing off in bed, I heard a deep bass voice singing. The Brownie was crooning “Young at Heart,” “When the Wind was Green,” and “New York, New York.” The first two made sense since they concerned things that interest the Fae. However, the last song puzzled me. Perhaps the Brownie had hidden ambitions for Broadway. I was reminded that Brownies and other Fae do not conform to human notions about them.
