Hearthspirit has told me one (somewhere in a comment on Violet's blog) about an encounter with a being of great strength who showed up outside a cabin where she was staying - with similar evidence of destruction found the next morning.
These things do seem to exist (in their various realms/planes/intersecting portals), though most of us (myself included) don't witness them.
I'm not sure why the majority of people have to discount them - I guess those folks have a firm grip on a "reality" of some sort.
